ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia football team held a one-hour, full-pads workout on Saturday afternoon at the Woodruff Practice Fields.

Despite battling rain throughout the practice, the Bulldogs were able to work on fundamentals during the first half of the session and then scrimmage in the latter half of the workout.

"It was a very spirited practice," Georgia head coach Mark Richt said. "We did some fundamental work and then we scrimmaged with some of the guys who haven't played a lot and some of the redshirt guys. They got after it pretty good. It was real short and sweet."

A total of 43 University of Georgia student-athletes, including 15 football players who were excused from practice, took part in the annual December commencement on Saturday to receive their degrees.

The football squad's 15 fall graduates included Andy Bailey (Housing, Athens, Tenn.), Sean Bailey (Real Estate, Alpharetta, Ga,), Thomas Brown (Speech Communication, Tucker, Ga.), A.J. Bryant (Housing, Fort Valley, Ga.), Brandon Coutu (Sociology, Lawrenceville, Ga.), Mitch Davis (Consumer Economics, Mobile, Ala.), Thomas Flowers (Sport Studies, Austell, Ga.), T.J. Gartrell (Consumer Economics, Lithonia, Ga.), Chris Gaunder (Cellular Biology, Acworth, Ga.), Mikey Henderson (Housing, Buford, Ga.), Marcus Howard (Housing, Huger, S.C.), Jason Johnson (Sociology, Chicago, Ill.), Justin Lyles (Consumer Economics, Macon, Ga.), Drew Williams (Agribusiness, Blairsville, Ga.) and Ben Wilson (Risk Management & Insurance, Lilburn, Ga.)

The graduation list also included five male swimmers, four female swimmers, four male track athletes, two baseball players, two mens tennis players, two female track athletes, two soccer players, two softball players, one equestrian rider, one male golfer, one female golfer, one gymnast and one volleyball player.

Richt also noted that the Georgia football team will have a scheduled off day on Sunday, but will hit the fields again Monday through Friday to continue preparations for the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

After next Friday's session, all other practices will take place in New Orleans, La., where Georgia (10-2) will meet Hawaii (12-0) in the Allstate Sugar Bowl on Jan 1, 2008. Kickoff for the game is slated for 8:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by Fox.
