Coach's Corner With Jay Clark
November 30, 2007 | Gymnastics
Well, a great deal of progress has been made in the last several weeks. Floor has progressed to a point where we should be ready to start the season. While some routines will be watered down at the beginning, we are seeing signs of being able to increase the difficulty as the year progresses.
Before Thanksgiving, we had an intrasquad on all four events and we were pleasantly surprised. Bars and beam were very strong as expected, but vault was the biggest surprise. Marcia has gotten it going again, along with Megan and Courtney, so the numbers are up. Increased participants on an event can greatly improve a coach’s outlook! With one week before finals, we are approaching the point where what we have is what we will start the season with.
I am encouraged by the progress, but there is still much progress to be made. This team has limitless potential, but the gap between potential and current reality needs to continue to close.
