ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's Chris Colwill, Sebastien Rouault and Chelsea Nauta were chosen on Tuesday as athletes of the week by the Southeastern Conference.
Colwill was named the SEC Male Diver of the Week for the second straight week, while Rouault was chosen as the SEC Male Swimmer of the Week and Nauta was picked as the SEC Female Freshman of the Week.
Colwill, a senior from Brandon, Fla., won both springboards in the Bulldogs' meet with Florida. He won the 1-meter with 425.47 points and the 3-meter with 452.03 points, both of which broke his school and pool records. He won the 1-meter by 121.65 points and the 3-meter by 107.85 points.
“It’s always an honor to see one of your athletes recognized by the conference,” Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. “Chris did a great job against Florida. He’s on the right track to accomplish some amazing things again this year. I am real proud of him. He’s working really hard. This recognition is greatly appreciated.”
Rouault, a senior from Chambourcy, France, won three events against the Gators. He took the 800-meter freestyle in 8:16.12, the 200m free in 1:53.10 and the 400m free in 3:58.54. His 200m free time converted in short course yards to a season-best 1:39.01, while his 400m free time converted in the 500y free to a season-best 4:27.27.
Nauta, a freshman from Tampa, Fla., helped the Lady Bulldogs beat Florida to improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the SEC and extend their home winning streak to 59 straight. She won the 200m free in 2:03.92, finished fourth in the 400m freestyle in 4:21.70 (which converts to a season-best 4:53.22 in short course yards) and swam the second leg of the victorious 400m freestyle relay.
“We’re real proud of Sebby and Chelsea,” Georgia head coach Jack Bauerle said. “Sebby continues to help us out in the most important times. He’s such a special swimmer. He had some big wins against a strong Florida team, and he really kept us in that meet. We’re fortunate to have Chelsea. We knew she was a good swimmer when we signed her, but she has blossomed into even more than we thought. She’s a great kid, a good leader, and we are proud of her performances.”
The Georgia teams will visit Georgia Tech on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at 4 p.m.
