September 14th, 2006: Football Practice Notes
September 14, 2006 | Football
"It was the usual Thursday," said head coach Mark Richt. "We had good work and good concentration. I though we threw the ball well and caught it well and had few mistakes."
On the injury front, Richt said both DT Ray Gant (ankle) and OT Michael Turner (ankle) are doubtful for Saturday¹s game. Receiver/punt returner Mikey Henderson (hamstring) will miss his second straight game, but OG Seth Watts (knee) will play.
Richt said freshman quarterback Matthew Stafford looked good in practice on Thursday, as he will be making the first start by a true freshman QB for the Bulldogs since Quincy Carter in 1998. Redshirt freshman QB Joe Cox may also play against UAB.
"We'd like to get Joe in there. That's all I can say for certain. I'd like him to play in the first half, but we¹ll see," said Richt.
Kickoff Saturday between Georgia and UAB in Athens will be 1 p.m., and Comcast Sports Southeast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) will produce the game as a pay-per-view broadcast. Contact your local cable provider to order the contest for $29.99. All Georgia games are broadcast live on the Bulldog Radio Network on AM 750 WSB in Atlanta and on both 106.1 FM and 960 The Ref in Athens. The radio audio can be heard on georgiadogs.com, the official website of the UGA Athletic Association.
