Ex-Dog Anderson Helps Heat Win NBA Title

ATHENS, Ga. --- Shandon Anderson, who starred for the Georgia men's basketball team more than a decade ago, is a world champion today.

The 6-foot-6, 198-pound swingman was a key reserve for the Miami Heat, which won the World Championship by knocking off the Dallas Mavericks in six games in the NBA Finals.

Anderson averaged 7.8 minutes per game in the Finals, including 19:25 in Miami's Game 3 victory. In the Finals, he scored 1.5 points and grabbed 1.8 rebounds per game. He saw action in 13 games for the Heat in the postseason. For the season, he averaged 2.6 points and 1.7 rebounds.

Anderson played for Georgia from 1993-96, and he departed as the only Bulldog in school history to accumulate 1,500 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists. In his NBA career, Anderson has played for Utah, Houston, New York and Miami. He played in 543 consecutive games from 1997-2004, tying Karl Malone for the 12th-longest streak in NBA history.
