Women's Tennis: Bulldogs Earn All-SEC Honors

Birmingham, Ala. --- Georgia's Natalie Frazier and Caroline Basu earned First Team All-Southeastern Conference honors while a trio of Bulldogs were named to the All-SEC second team, the league announced Thursday.

Frazier and Basu were among the 13 selections to the first team as voted on by the SEC coaches while Bulldog senior Evgenia Subbotina, junior Darya Ivanov, and sophomore Kelley Hyndman made the second team. Frazier, a junior from Riverdale, is nationally-ranked No. 18 in singles with a 26-9 mark. She went a team-best 9-1 in SEC singles action this year. Basu, a senior from Wolfsburg, Germany, is ranked No. 87 in singles with a 22-9 record. She posted a 9-2 SEC singles record. This marks the second time in Frazier and Basu's career that they have been named first team All-SEC.

Hyndman went 9-2 in the SEC (16-11 overall) while Ivanov posted an 8-3 league mark (22-12 overall). Georgia's top doubles tandem has been Ivanov and Subbotina with a 24-6 record including 8-3 in the SEC. Subbotina has been the most versatile Bulldog in the singles lineup, going 16-13 overall including 6-5 in the SEC. She has played in the top four spots in the lineup.

The 26th-ranked Bulldogs (12-8, 8-3 SEC) are in Gainesville, Fla., for the SEC Tournament. As a top four seed, they received a first round bye. Georgia will face No. 31 Tennessee Friday at 10 a.m. The Lady Vols defeated Auburn 4-0 in the first round Thursday. Georgia closed out the regular season last Saturday with a 6-1 win over the Lady Vols. The Bulldogs are 37-4 all-time against Tennessee including a 4-1 win over the Lady Vols at the 2005 SEC Tournament.
