Georgia Closes Fall Semester With Sneak Peak

ATHENS --- The top-ranked Georgia Gym Dogs held their final pre-season scrimmage on Sunday at a packed Ramsey Center practice facility. Georgia’s freshmen and sophomores defeated the juniors and seniors, 195.95-195.1, with several individuals from both sides posting highlight routines. For the winning side, freshman Marcia Newby scored a 9.9 on bars in the first rotation and sophomore Tiffany Tolnay added a 9.95. Senior Kelsey Ericksen scored a 9.9 on beam in the same rotation. Freshman Grace Taylor matched Ericksen for the top beam score of the day with a 9.9 in the second rotation, while junior Katie Heenan scored a 9.9 on bars. The Gym Dogs’ top-scoring rotation of the scrimmage was a 49.4 on vault by the juniors and seniors. Seniors Ashley Kupets and Ericksen had a 9.9 and Heenan added a 9.95. On floor, Heenan scored another 9.9 while sophomore Tiffany Tolnay had a 9.9 on vault. Georgia’s combined total for the scrimmage equaled a 197.5. Georgia opens its season on Jan. 6 at home against Stanford.
