ATHENS, Ga. Swimmers Morgan Scroggy and Billy Cregar have signed national letters-of-intent with Georgia, according to an announcement by head coach Jack Bauerle.
Scroggy is a native of Aurora, Ore., where she attends Canby High School and trains at Tualatin Hill Swim Club coached by Link Bergen. She is considered to be one of the top five overall high school prospects due to her versatility. She could make an impact for Georgia in as many as 10 different events.
“I am excited to have Morgan become part of such a tremendous recruiting class.,” Bauerle said. “From the moment she stepped foot on our campus, we knew Morgan would fit in great at UGA. She is one of the most versatile swimmers we have ever had. She can compete at the top in free, fly and back. She also excels in the classroom.”
Cregar attends Washington Township (N.J.) High School and swims for Coach Matt Sprang at Gloucester County Swimming. A 4.0 student, Cregar has been named a Scholastic All-American. He has qualified for the 2008 Olympic Trials in the 400 IM and he is a Senior National qualifier in the 400- and 800-meter freestyle and the 200- and 400-meter IM.
“I couldn’t be more excited to have him,” Bauerle said. “He is a talented guy with great strokes. He is coached by Matt Sprang at Gloucester County and he’s done a tremendous job coaching Billy. He complements a strong men’s team, especially in the IM and distance freestyle events.”
