Bulldogs Advance In Indiana Event

BLOOMINGTON, Ind.--- University of Georgia senior Darya Ivanov and freshman Adrienne Elsberry won two singles matches apiece Friday to advance to the finals in their respective flights at the Hoosier Classic.
Ivanov, playing in the “B” flight, posted a 6-1,6-3 win over Sigrid Fisher (Indiana) and then beat Katie Potts (Notre Dame) 7-6(3),6-2. In the “D” flight, Elsberry recorded a 6-2,6-1 victory over Casady Pruitt (Murray State) and then eliminated Alba Berdala (Indiana) 6-3,6-0. In the “C’ flight, Georgia freshman Naoko Ueshima went 1-1. She lost her opening round match to Cosmina Ciobanu (Notre Dame) 6-2,6-1 and then bounced back with a 6-1,6-0 victory over Katerina Kudlackoua (Kansas State).
Doubles play will begin Saturday morning followed by singles in the afternoon. Ivanov and Ueshima are in the #1 flight.
In consolation action at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships Friday in California, Georgia senior Natalie Frazier went 1-1. Frazier, ranked 21st nationally, posted a 6-3,7-6(4) win over 28th-ranked junior Riza Zalamada (UCLA). Then, Frazier’s run came to an end, falling to 20th-ranked Celia Durkin (Stanford) 6-2,6-3. Frazier is now 5-2 on the year.
