TUSCALOOSA, Ala. --- Senior Natalie Frazier of the Georgia women’s tennis team continued her stellar play Saturday, advancing to the quarterfinals of the ITA South Regionals in Tuscaloosa, Ala., at the University of Alabama tennis courts.

No. 21-ranked Frazier, also the tournament’s No. 4 overall seed, downed her Florida opponent, Megan Alexander, in straight-sets to earn her spot in the quarterfinals. After Frazier claimed the first set 6-4, Alexander played her closer in the second, forcing a tiebreaker. The Georgia senior held on for a 7-4 tiebreaker advantage to clinch the match victory.

Frazier has another match later Saturday versus Amanda Craddock of Georgia Tech that would place her in the semifinals with a win.

Should Frazier advance to the semifinals, the senior will face the winner of the match between top-seeded Kristi Miller of Georgia Tech and No, 6-seeded Adrianna Solarova of South Alabama on Sunday.

In other singles action, freshman Adrienne Elsberry won her first consolation match Saturday over Troy’s Claudia Strauss, 6-1, 6-3. However, Amanda McDowell of Georgia Tech bested Elsberry in the next round, 6-2, 6-2.

Naoko Ueshima also dropped her consolation match to Romy Farrah of Miami, 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.

The Bulldogs struggled in doubles play Saturday, as all three remaining tandems fell in their respective quarterfinal matches.

The ITA South Regionals resume Sunday for the final rounds of competition.
