October 15, 1960 - Trailing 17-7 at the half, Georgia quarterback Fran Tarkenton sparked a second half charge as Georgia defeated Mississippi State 20-17 in Athens. Durward Pennington's 25-yard field goal with 0:08 left put the Bulldogs on top for good.
October 15, 1977 - UGA marched over Vaderbilt on Jeff Pyburn’s 4-yard run on an option keeper to secure the Dawgs victory, 24-13.
October 15, 2004 - The UGA athletic department named the winner of the inaugural Excellence in Athletics Cup for the Southeastern Conference as determined by the Laboratory for the Study of Intercollegiate Athletics. The award was based on Georgia's 2003-04 performance in several; categories including NCAA post-season competitions, SEC competitions, graduation rates of all student-athletes, graduation rates of African-American student-athletes, and achievement of gender equitable participation opportunities, achievement of gender equitable financial aid allocations, and efficient operation with the use of financial resources.
