Angela Hale, a middle blocker for the Bulldogs, has been one of the team's top defensive options during her stay in Athens. She is currently second on the team with 26 blocks after finishing last season in second place with 73.
Though listed as a junior in terms of NCAA eligibility, Angela has decided this will be her last year at the University. After Sunday's victory over Georgia Tech, Angela let us in on her plans for the future and the impact UGA has had on her life.
Q: You received a medical redshirt as a freshman but have decided to go ahead and make this your senior season with the Bulldogs. What factors played into that decision?
A: "Academically, it is the best thing for me to do. I want to attend law school and they only accept students for fall admission. If I stayed at Georgia and took one class in the fall [2006], my admission would be postponed for an entire year."
Q: Where do you want to go to law school?
A: "I¹m looking to attend somewhere back home. [Hale is a native of Floyd Knobs, Ind.] I really want to go to the University of Louisville."
Q: What will you take from your experiences at UGA?
A: "I have learned so much. Being a student-athlete has taught me to be organized, responsible, and how to best manage my time. I feel as if I am very prepared for the real world. It has been a privilege and I am proud to be a part of this program. Georgia is a wonderful school."
Q: Even when you're not on the court, you are giving high-fives and encouraging your teammates. Who has been an emotional leader for you since you've been a player?
A: "Jen McGurn [3rd year assistant coach] is always so excited and we feed off of that. Nicole [McCray, 1st year assistant coach] keeps us in the game and encourages us to work for everything. The coaching staff is a constant presence, but we as a team also lift one another up. Encouragement is a team effort."
