Men's and Women's Tennis Continue Play at Thomasville

ATHENS -- Georgia's participants in the Thomasville Collegiate Tennis Invitational enjoyed another good day at the round-robin event here, winning seven of nine matches at the Glen Arven Country Club. The event features student-athletes from Florida State, Central Florida, Georgia Tech, Georgia State and Georgia.
In Saturday's doubles action, Georgia's Natalie Frazier and Link Leskosky posted an 8-6 win over the Central Florida team of Pamela Fernandez and Kyla McNicol. Also, Frazier paired with Caroline Basu for an 8-1 victory over Ga. Tech's Kelly Anderson and Lyndsay Shosho. The Bulldog duo of Colin Purcel and Josh Varela edged the Florida State team of Maciek Sykut and Drew Bailey 9-8(3).
In singles, the Georgia women's trio all recorded wins over Georgia State entries. Frazier defeated Anne Breiholtz 7-5,6-2 while Basu dispatched Mateja Podgorsek 6-0,6-4. Leskosky beat Rachel Malina who had to retire due to an injury with Leskosky leading 5-2 in the first set.
In singles against Georgia State entries, Purcell outlasted Martin Stiegwardt in a third set 10-point match tiebreaker, winning 6-1,3-6,10-8. Anze Cevka defeated Varela 6-4,6-1 while Frank Suro defeated Georgia's Brad Benedict 6-1,6-1.
The round-robin event concludes Sunday.
