ATHENS, GA -- In conjunction with the upcoming NCAA Women's Tennis Championships, the University of Georgia will host a NCAA Youth Education through Sports (YES) Clinic on Wednesday, May 11.

Approximately 100 middle school students from both Barrow Middle School and Burney Harris Lyons Middle School will participant in the event, which will provide an opportunity to experience tennis skill instruction, healthy conditioning options to encourage lifetime fitness and life skills that will be beneficial in academics, athletics and promoting good citizenship.

The event, which is not open to the public, will take place on the Henry Field Stadium courts at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex from 1-2:30 pm, and the students will have a chance to watch some of the collegiate practice session. Throughout the clinic, the students will work on serving, volleys and ground strokes as well as conditioning.

The NCAA YES program contributes to the total education of each individual student by providing a disciplined teaching/learning experience outside the classroom from NCAA student-athletes and coaches.

The National Youth Sports Corporation (NYSC) has organized the NCAA YES Clinics annually at different NCAA Championship site.

Georgia will host the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tennis Tournament May 13-15 as well as the Women's NCAA Championships May 19-28. Additional information can be found at www.georgiadogs.com.
