Track Completes Day 1 at Mt. SAC

WALNUT, Calif.----- Seven student-athletes represented the Red and Black at the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Friday.
Freshman Wes Fuller recorded Georgia's best finish of the day as he came in second in men's pole vault. By clearing 16-00.75 he beat out talent from some of the top track and field programs in the country, including Arizona, USC and Fresno State.
Ian Burrell got the distance races rolling with an NCAA-qualifying 14:08.02 finish in the men's 5000 meters. His performance garnered a sixth-place finish and personal best for the sophomore.
Mike Swope and Ian Dickinson ran the longest race of the day, the men's 10000 meters, with Swope coming in 26th (29:52.28) and Dickinson, 47th (30:46.14). Jill Steffens competed in the women's version of the same distance and crossed the finish line in 34:53.07 for 27th place.
Danny Sould finished 19th (1:53.18) in the men's 800 meters and Natalie Picchetti was 33rd (4:31.02) in the women's 1500 meters.
Competition at Mt. SAC resumes Saturday with men's and women's field events.
