Bulldogs Upset Northwestern

MADISON, WIS.-----Bolstered by a memorable performance by Shadisha Robinson, 13th-ranked Georgia recorded a 5-2 win over fifth-ranked Northwestern to advance to the quarterfinals of the USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Women's Championships Thursday.

Robinson along with sophomore Caroline Basu defeated the nation's top-ranked duo of Audra Cohen and Cristelle Grier 8-6 in the number one doubles contest to help the Bulldogs claim the first point of the match. Then, Robinson gave Georgia a 2-0 lead when she outlasted Cohen, nationally-ranked number one in singles, by winning 6-3,4-6,6-3 in the feature match. Robinson, ranked 10th nationally, improved to 22-4 on the year while Cohen fell to to 23-2. The Robinson/Basu duo is 7-1 on the year with two wins over top 10 ranked opponents while the Cohen/Grier team took their first loss of the year at 15-1.
