Dear Bulldog Nation,
This has been a very exciting week for our team! We trained hard Monday and Tuesday to get ready for the SEC Tournament. We had to wake up very early Wednesday to catch our flight to Pensacola where the bus was waiting to take us to Orange Beach, Ala., the site of this year's tournament. After some wrong directions made the short trip a rather long one, we finally arrived at our hotel, which turned out to be a condominium complex right on the beach! I'm rooming with Randi-Lynn Bruso, Amber Tacke, Megan Tomlinson and Missy Vierling.
After we arrived, we grabbed some lunch at a cute deli then came back to the rooms for some down time. Our room actually turned on the music and had a little dance party though.
Practice was at 4:30 sharp and we only had an hour on the field. The session went well, then we rushed back to the condos to get ready for the SEC Tournament banquet. I have never seen a group of girls get ready so quickly! Everyone looked gorgeous. After dinner, they gave out the awards. Megan Tomlinson was named to the All-Freshman team, Cortni Joyner got second-team All-SEC and Randi-Lynn Bruso and Ali Williams got first-team All-SEC. Then Ali Williams was named the SEC Offensive Player of the Year. This is a huge accomplishment for her and our program and I couldn't be happier for her. She truly deserves it. After the banquet we took pictures, then headed back to our condos.
This morning we had a meeting at 10:00 with the coaches to watch video on Vanderbilt. Then we went for a stroll on the beach to get our legs moving. The beach was great. Some of us were collecting seashells and found some pretty ones in the ocean. Special thanks to Elizabeth Poirier for getting soaked just to find shells! Right now are hanging out until its time for our pre-game meal. The game is at 7:30 tonight against Vanderbilt. Everyone is excited and ready to go. Wish us luck!
