Georgia Equestrian Wins Big Eight English Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia's equestrian squad won the English discipline in the Big Eight English Tournament, hosted by the Bulldogs, in Athens, Ga., on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs downed South Carolina 411-407 in the Fences and Flat competition to take the tournament title.

Riding Spirit, Cinnabar, Kally, Oscar, Tupelo and John E, Georgia's Melinda Drury, Cordy Allsopp, Michelle Blair, Logan Fiorentino, Rachel Berkowitz and Alex Linscheid won all three rounds of their Fences and Flat competition to win the first-ever tournament of this kind. Along with the Gamecocks, Oklahoma State University, Baylor University, Fresno State University, New Mexico State University, South Dakota State University and Texas A&M competed at the Animal Science Arena for the two-day tournament.

In the third-place match, New Mexico State downed Texas A&M 388-365 in the English discipline.
