ATHENS, Ga.---The Georgia volleyball team has dropped two straight conference matches and looks to rebound this weekend with home dates against South Carolina on Friday at 7 p.m. and Tennessee on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Sunday's match with Tennessee will be televised live by Fox Sports Net South.
Last year the Bulldogs (6-7, 1-2 SEC) faced both the Gamecocks and the Lady Vols on two different weekends, winning two matches against South Carolina but falling in both to Tennessee. The Bulldogs have won four straight over the Gamecocks and lead the all-time series 34-11. Georgia's most recent win was a 3-0 decision on Nov. 14 of last year in Athens.
Tennessee has taken a 25-22 lead over Georgia in a series that has hovered near .500 for several years. The Lady Vols have won four straight over the Bulldogs but four of the last eight matches have been decided in five games.
Seniors Julia Petruschke and Alexandra Oquendo are again leading the Bulldogs on the stats page in their final season. The pair has accounted for 56 percent of Georgia's total kills and both are ranked among the SECs top seven in kills per game. In a match last Sunday against Kentucky, Petruschke, Oquendo and Maria Taylor all finished with double digits in kills and also had hitting percentages higher than .400.
Sophomore libero Brooke Burlingame is leading the Bulldogs along the back row, ranking seventh in the league with 4.09 digs per game. And sophomore Chelsea Young is fourth in the SEC with 12.37 assists per game.
