ATHENS, Ga. --- The University of Georgia women's soccer team (11-4-2, 5-3-1) blanked Alabama 2-0 in an SEC showdown at the UGA Soccer Complex on Friday night. Senior forward Ali Williams scored both goals for the Bulldogs, tying the Georgia record for most multiple-goal games in a season with five, set by Stephanie Yarem in 1997. With the win, Georgia clinched its spot in the SEC Tournament in Orange Beach, Ala.

"This was a hard-fought win for us," said Georgia head coach Patrick Baker. "We were good at times, we were off at times, but when it mattered we played well enough to win. The back four played admirably on defense, the midfield was good in transition and Ali really proved again tonight why we put her up top. She had terrific composure on those breakaways."

Williams stole the show for Georgia, scoring her 11th and 12th scores of the season.  At the 32:09 mark in the first half, junior midfielder Randi-Lynn Bruso led Williams will a long ball down the middle of the field through three defenders, hitting Williams in stride. Williams took a couple of dribbles and ripped a shot in the lower left corner of the net around Alabama goalkeeper Kara Gudmens.

Williams' second tally of the game came on another long ball played by junior midfielder Kelly Whitaker that hit Williams in stride once again, leaving her one-on-one with Alabama's second-string goalkeeper, Natalie Kohn. Williams tucked it past her to put the Dogs up 2-0.

"I didn't know about the record coming in," said Williams. "I was more excited about the second goal just knowing that it was an insurance goal and brought us that much closer to Orange Beach. We have worked really hard to get ourselves into this position."
