ATHENS, Ga. -- The Georgia soccer team, coming off its first two wins of the season, will travel to Durham, NC, to participate in the Duke/adidas Classic. Georgia will face the host Blue Devils on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 pm, and the Bulldogs' second contest of the weekend tournament pits Georgia against top-ranked and defending national champion North Carolina on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 1 pm.

Both games will be played at Koskinen Stadium on Duke's campus. Furman is the fourth participant in the Classic.

Georgia is currently 2-1-2 after topping both Wofford and Birmingham Southern at home last weekend.

Georgia holds a 2-0 all-time record against Duke, including a 1-0 win in Athens in 2002 when the Blue Devils were also ranked No. 22. The first meeting ended with a 3-2 Georgia victory in Durham in 2001 Duke/adidas Classic.

This will be only the second meeting between the Tar Heels, with the previous contest being played in Durham as part of the 2001 Duke/adidas Classic. No. 1 North Carolina pounded Georgia 9-0, which was the last time UGA faced a No. 1 team.

The Bulldogs hold a 6-10-4 record against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference, including a 1-0 loss at No. 3 Florida State earlier this season.

The Georgia soccer team stands at No. 12 in the Soccer Buzz Southeast Regional Rankings, released Sept. 6. The Bulldogs will play seven teams that are in the current top 10 in the Southeast Rankings, including No. 1 North Carolina and No. 6 Duke this week in Durham.

Admission to the weekend event is free of charge. Follow the action online with Gametracker at georgiadogs.com.
