LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Highlighted by a pair of Lady Bulldogs making the 2004 Olympic Team, both current and former Georgia swimmers had a successful eight days at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials in Long Beach, Calif.

"This is an amazing experience for both athlete and coaches alike," said Georgia swimming head coach Jack Bauerle. "The Olympic Trials is a high-pressured meet, even more so than the Olympics in some regards."

Current Lady Bulldog Kara Lynn Joyce and former UGA standout Maritza Correia both punched their ticket to the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece, by their performance at this year's Trials. Joyce won the 100-meter freestyle and was runner-up in the 50-meter freestyle, which qualified her to swim both individual events at the upcoming Games. She will also be among those competing on the 4x50-meter and 4x100-meter freestyle relays.
