Athens, Ga. --- Kara Braxton, a 6-6 forward/center from Jackson, Mich., has been dismissed from the University of Georgia women's basketball team, head coach Andy Landers announced on Friday.

"I'm disappointed," Landers said. "As a coach, you never want to be in this position. You never want any of your players to be in this position. But you can only extend someone so many chances. Kara has been given sufficient opportunities to adhere to our team policies. At this point, I think it is in everyone's best interest, including Kara's, to move forward."

Braxton was suspended three times during the 2002-03 season, the final occasion for the last eight games of the campaign. She also was suspended for last Sunday's game with Ole Miss after violating team policies.

Braxton has played in 20 of 24 games this season, with 17 starts. She was leading the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game.
