Georgia Finishes 10th at Regional Challenge

Palos Verdes, Calif. -- The No. 7-ranked Georgia women's golf team fired an 18-over 302 - the second-best score of the day - in Wednesday's final round of the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Lady Bulldogs climbed from 12th to 10th in the final team standings at 926.
Freshman Allison Martin carded a 2-over 73, a tally four shots better than any Lady Bulldog shot during the first 36 holes, to lead Georgia in the third round. Additional counting scores came from Whitney Wade, who shot 75, and Jackie Beers and Lisa Tyler, who both posted 77s. Kelly Froelich fired an 80.
Individually, Martin finished tied for 22nd at 229, Wade tied for 26th at 230, Tyler tied for 34th at 233, Beers tied for 44th at 237 and Froelich tied for 55th at 241.
No. 2-ranked UCLA completed its wire-to-wire domination of the field in both the team and individual field.
The Bruins carded a 297 on Wednesday, the only sub-300 round of the day, to finish at 876. No. 6 New Mexico was a distant second, 32 strokes back at 908.
UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas captured medalist honors at 6-under 207, 10 shots better than teammate Susie Mathews, the runner-up.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action in two weeks when they compete in the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
