Georgia Volleyball Wins Two at Kent State Invitational

Kent, Ohio-----The Georgia Bulldogs knocked off Morehead State, 3-0 (30-19, 30-25, 30-27), and earned a win over host Kent State, 3-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-25), on Saturday at the Kent State Invitational.

Georgia improves to 4-2 with the two victories and will open its home schedule on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Georgia Southern in the UGA Ramsey Center.

Eleven Bulldogs saw action in both matches on Saturday and Julia Petruschke and Margot Wallace were each named to the All-Tournament Team.

"After losing a five-game match on Friday we liked the way they responded," said Georgia head coach Mary Buczek. "We played a lot of people and they stepped up and played well. It was a total team effort."

Petruschke and Alexandra Oquendo finished the Kent State (2-4) win with 13 and 10 kills, respectively. Jennie Metz, who moved from the right side to libero on Saturday, led the Dogs with 10 digs.

Against Morehead State, Georgia finished the with a .375 team hitting percentage, its highest since hitting .510 in a win at Auburn on Nov. 8 of last season. The Bulldogs held the Eagles (3-2) to a .207 mark.

Petruschke led Georgia with 21 kills, a .545 hitting percentage and 10 digs. Wallace finished with 41 assists and Rashinda Reed added five block assists and one solo block.
