Finish the Drill

"Finish the Drill" is the inside story of Georgia's 2002 championship season. It includes profiles of players and coaches plus a recap of the big games.

The game summaries includes an insight based on position coaches perspective. Take John Eason, receivers coach, for example. He has a unique system of what he calls the gasser-banker plan. If you make a mistake, i.e. fumble, missed assignment, run an incorrect route, etc., you are required to run gassers (a 200 yard sprint) after practice. But make a block, score after a catch, bring him an A from class and you get a banker.

If Eason's tally sheet shows five minuses and four pluses in practice, the receiver only has to run one gasser. If the total is positive like five bankers to three gassers, the net of two bankers can be carried over to the next practice.

A senior, at the end of the season, with extra bankers can bequeath his excess to underclassmen for spring practice.
