ATHENS-----The University of Georgia women's tennis team has released their schedule for the 2003-04 season. The schedule features 10 home dual matches and four tournaments including the NCAA Championships hosted by the Bulldogs.
The fall tournament season opens September 26 with the Bulldog Invitational, featuring players from Georgia Southern, South Alabama, and Kansas State. The tournament will be played in a round robin format and run through September 28.
The Bulldogs season culminates with the 2004 NCAAs May 20-29 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex. This marks the second time in school history that Georgia will serve as host of the women's NCAAs. The first time was in 1994, and Georgia claimed the NCAA title, completing a sweep that season which included the Southeastern Conference and USTA/ITA National Team Indoor championships as well.
Georgia, under the direction of Jeff Wallace who begins his 19th year at UGA, enters the 2003-04 season with high expectations, returning five letter winners from a team that posted a 19-5 mark and advanced to the national quarterfinals. Georgia has been ranked among the nation's top eight schools for seven consecutive seasons.
