COLLEGE FOOTBALL PREVIEW:

ESPN Power 16. The University of Oklahoma captures the No. 1 spot in the ESPN Power 16 preseason poll. A poll of experts at ESPN, ESPN.com and The Magazine turned up these August favorites who have the juice to roll all the way to January's eight BCS bowls:

1. Oklahoma 9. USC 2. Miami 10. N.C. State 3. Ohio State 11. Virginia 4. Texas 12. Maryland 5. Michigan 13. Georgia 6. Auburn 14. Pittsburgh 7. Kansas State 15. Florida State 8. Virginia Tech 16. Purdue On Switch. The Magazine's Gene Wojciechowski takes a closer look at the nation's best linebacker tandem - Auburn's Karlos Dansby and Dontarrious Thomas - and how they psyche themselves up for Saturday.

Off Switch. Nebraska offensive lineman Richie Incognito always plays on maximum burn. The Magazine's Bruce Feldman reports that cooling him down has been the tough part.

Deep Cover. The Magazine's Eric Adelson profiles Michigan defensive back Marlin Jackson. He spent a lifetime walling off the chaos surrounding him - then one night it caught up to him.

Prime Cuts. In a photo act, The Magazine features Colorado State quarterback Bradlee Van Pelt and four other angry young men who know one truth: get pumped or get punked. (Other athletes featured include Niko Koutouvides (MLB Purdue), Brandon Everage (FS Oklahoma), Jason Babin (DE Western Michigan), Jake Groove (C Virginia Tech).
