Falcons Sign WR Terrence Edwards

Flowery Branch, Ga. - The Atlanta Falcons today announced they have signed former University of Georgia WR Terrence Edwards as a rookie free agent. Terms of the contract were not disclosed by the team.

Edwards, 6-0, 171, concluded his career as Georgia's all-time leader in receptions (204), receiving yards (3,093), touchdown receptions (30), and 100-yard receiving games (10).

This past season, Edwards led the Bulldogs in receiving with 59 catches for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns on his way to first-team All-SEC honors. He was named the SEC's Player of the Week for his performance vs. Kentucky in which he caught five passes for 127 yards and tied a school record with three touchdowns. He helped lead the Bulldogs to their first SEC championship in 20 years and a victory vs. Florida State in the Sugar Bowl.

In 2001, Edwards led the Bulldogs with 39 receptions for 613 yards and six touchdowns. Included among his accomplishments in 2001 were a pair of 100-yard receiving games. In 2000, Edwards led the team with 53 receptions for 704 yards and four touchdowns. In 1999, Edwards paced the Bulldogs receivers and set the Georgia record for most receptions by a freshman with 53 for 772 yards. He also tied the school record for the most touchdown receptions in a season with nine. In his first game as a Bulldog he caught 10 passes for 196 yards in a victory over Utah State. He concluded his freshman year fourth in touchdowns and eighth in receptions.

The brother of former UGA and current Miami Dolphins RB Robert Edwards, Edwards attended Washington County High School.
