Georgia Track and Field Continues Competition at Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - The University of Georgia track and field teams continued competition Friday at the 94th annual Drake Relays, posting several strong performances.
The 4x200 meter team of senior Traci Boyd, junior Illia Miles, junior Hyleas Fountain, and junior Sherita King won the University division of the event with a time of 1:33.74. Georgia clocked the fastest time of the prelims earlier in the day at 1:35.43. The same group also ran the 400-meter relay and clocked the second fastest time of the prelims at 45.25 seconds. The 400-meter relay finals will be run Saturday.
Junior John Newell placed second in the University and College Men's shot put with a season-best and improved NCAA regional qualifying mark of 18.04 meters (59'2.25"). The mark moves him to seventh on UGA's outdoor all-time list in the event.
