ATHENS, Ga. ----- The No. 19 Bulldogs (7-11, 3-5 SEC) fell in a 5-2 upset to No. 46 Mississippi State (7-9, 3-5 SEC) Sunday at the McWhorter Courts in Athens.
Bo Hodge, who with partner Nicolas Boeker posted Georgia's only doubles win, suffered a groin injury during the second set of his singles match against Romain Ambert. The injury, although it caused the match to be retired, is not expected to hamper Hodge long-term.
"We're disappointed about the match, but we gave a good effort," said head coach Manuel Diaz. "Not all our guys are playing at 100 percent [physically], and really, I thought the difference was our doubles. We should have had chances to win the doubles point, but we didn't take advantage of them. Then we just wound up losing a couple of close [singles] matches."
