Bulldogs host SEC Championships

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs will host the SEC Championships, Monday, November 3, at the UGA Golf Course, in Athens. Both programs are looking for their first-ever conference title. The Bulldogs enter undefeated against SEC teams this season. Georgia defeated conference powerhouse Arkansas, Oct. 4, at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree.

The last time out...
Simon Ngata once again posted a top-10 finish en route to leading the Bulldogs to an eighth-place finish in the 35-team, 8K gold division at the NCAA Pre Nationals, in Waterloo, Iowa, this year's site of the NCAA National Championships.

Ngata placed 10th among the 245 golddivision participants with a career best, 8Ktime of 23:52. Philip Bett (35th-24:17), Mike Swope (47th-24:32), Ian Dickinson (58th- 24:36) and Ian Burrell (113th-25:13) rounded out Georgia's points winners. The only seven teams placing ahead of the No. 21 Bulldogs were all teams ranked in the Top 25.

The Lady Bulldogs also ran well against its best competition of the season, placing 14th in the 32-team purple division with 383 points.

Freshman Kristin Heffelfinger led the Lady Bulldogs in 52nd place, finishing the 6K run in 21:32. Also scoring for the Lady Bulldogs were Lauren Burks (56th-21:36), Kelly Cordell (61st-21:41), Jill Steffens (91st-22:00) and Clair Nowakowski (123rd- 22:21).
