Athens, Ga. -- The Georgia teams will have a busy week as they host Florida Nov. 13, at 4 p.m., followed by a meet the following day against Emory (Nov. 14) at 6 p.m.
Thursday's meet will be one of the biggest all year and one of the most exciting at home for Georgia this season. All four teams involved in the meet are ranked in the top 10 of the CSCAA poll last week, including the Florida and Georgia women's teams ranking second and third, respectively.
The Florida women are the only team to have a winning record all-time against the Lady Bulldogs, winning 13 of 18 meets since 1978. The Gator men hold a 54-15 advantage in the series history of one of the oldest rivalries for the Bulldogs.
Bulldogs upset No. 7 Michigan at home
The No. 10 Bulldogs earned a 133-110 upset against seventh-ranked Michigan Saturday. Georgia won six events, including both diving events, in the meet, which was contested in short-course meters.
With the outcome of the meet still in question, senior co-captain Kyle Salyards led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200m breaststroke - the next to last event of the day - to seal the victory for the Bulldogs.
Once again, diving played a crucial role in the outcome, as Georgia placed first and second in both diving events. Junior Todd Avery and freshman Chris Colwill finished 1-2 in the 1-meter event. The two again claimed top honors on the 3-meter, with Colwill finishing first, followed by Avery in second.
