Georgia Cross Country Performs Well at Catamount Classic

ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Georgia cross country teams performed well at the Catamount Classic, hosted by Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C., Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs ran their top runners and won the meet with a point total of 44. The Bulldogs ran an all-freshmen team and placed third with 71 points.

Freshman Lauren Burks led the Georgia women, winning the meet with a time of 13:25 over the four kilometer course. Senior Whitney Nelson Stansell followed with a second place overall finish in a time of 13:42. Freshman Clair Nowakowski (6th, 14:00), redshirt freshman Christine Shepherd (16th, 14:27) and freshman Jill Steffens (19th, 14:43) rounded out the scoring places for the Lady Bulldogs.
