Dogs finish eighth in Carpet Capital Collegiate

ROCKY FACE, Ga. -- Freshman Kevin Kisner turned in his second straight Top-10 individual finish in leading the Georgia men's golf team at the Carpet Capital Collegiate.

Kisner, a freshman from Aiken, S.C., fired a 1-under 71 in the final round at The Farm on Sunday. Kisner finished tied for 10th place at 3-under 213, eight shots behind co-medalists Bill Haas of Wake Forest and Troy Matteson of Georgia Tech.

Kisner had placed sixth in the Bulldogs' season-opening event, the Inverness Invitational in Toledo, Ohio.

Kisner paced the 15th-ranked Bulldogs, who finished eighth at 6-over 870, including Sunday's final-round tally of 2-over 290. Clemson won the event at 14-under 850, holding off a late charge from Augusta State. Sophomore David Denham finished at even-par 216 after Sunday's final-round 1-over 73. Junior Matt McQuillan carded a 1-under 71 on Sunday to wind up at 4-over 220. Junior Ryan Hybl (3-over 75 on Sunday) followed at 8-over 224, while sophomore Donny Wysoczynski (4-over 76) came in at 10-over 226.

Georgia will return to action Oct. 7-9 at the Adams Cup of Newport in Rhode Island.
