Boeker named to Tennis Week/ITA Collegiate All-Star Team

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Former Georgia tennis player Matias Boeker was named to the 2002 Tennis Week/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Collegiate All-Star Team and will be honored on Friday, August 23 at the historic West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, N.Y.

Boeker and Bea Bielik of Wake Forest highlight this year's team. Boeker, the 2002 and 2001 ITA National Player of the Year, is the first two-time winner of the men's award, which dates back to 1980. In May Boeker became only the fourth player to win consecutive NCAA singles titles in the last 50 years and first since Georgia's Mikael Pernfors in 1984-85.

Joining Boeker on the men's team are: Andrew Colombo of Auburn, Harsh Mankad of Minnesota, K.J. Hippensteel of Stanford, Mark Kovacs of Auburn, Jan Krejci of BYU-Hawaii, Josh Lefkowitz of Williams (Mass.), Oliver Maiberger of San Diego State, Marcin Matkowski of UCLA, Ryan Redondo of San Diego State, Jean-Julian Rojer of UCLA and Renato Silveira of Georgia Perimeter.
