ATHENS---Senior offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb and senior linebacker Boss Bailey have been named to The Sporting News 2002 Preseason All-America Team while the Bulldogs check in at fifth in TSN's preseason top 25.

Stinchcomb, a 6-6, 277-pound native of Lilburn, Ga., and Bailey, a 6-4, 218-pound native of Folkston, Ga., were first team selections in TSN's recently published 2002 College Football Yearbook. Oklahoma is TSN's preseason number one team with Florida State, Texas, Miami (Fla.) and Georgia rounding out the top five.

Stinchcomb was a second team All-America selection by Football News last season and named to the Associated Press's All-SEC First Team. Bailey finished fifth on the team in tackles last year with 65 after missing the entire 2000 season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

In addition, nine Bulldogs were named among the top 25 players at their positions by TSN. Stinchcomb was tabbed the No. 2 offensive tackle, Bailey the No. 2 outside linebacker, Jonathan Kilgo the No. 5 punter, Kevin Breedlove the No. 5 guard, Tony Gilbert the No. 6 middle linebacker, Billy Bennett the No. 15 kicker, David Greene the No. 16 quarterback, Fred Gibson the No. 17 receiver and No. 18 return man, and Ben Watson the No. 22 tight end.

TSN ranked the Georgia linebackers as No. 5 in the nation, the offensive line No. 8 and the receivers No. 8.
