COLLEGE STATION, Texas --- Georgia Bulldog Matias Boeker advanced to the singles semifinals at the 2002 NCAA Championships at the Texas A&M Tennis Center in College Station Friday afternoon. Boeker will face Stanford's David Martin in Sunday's semifinal.

Boeker broke at 5-5 and held his serve to take the first set 7-5 against Southern Cal's Nick Rainey in Saturday's quarterfinal. The Georgia junior from Buenos Aries, Argentina, had little trouble in the second set , cruising 6-2 to win in straight sets.

"Sometimes you can't tell how hard points are by the score" added Boeker. "He came out a little more energized that I did at the beginning and went up a break. Luckily I was able to get the break right back. I tried to pump myself up. He was going for his shots and I was playing more passive. I told myself I had to move my feet more and get pumped up."
