COLLEGE STATION, Texas. --- Georgia Bulldogs Matias Boeker and Brandon Wagner used three-set comebacks to advance in singles play with second-round victories at the 2002 NCAA Championships at the Texas A&M Tennis Center in College Station Thursday afternoon. The tandem of Bo Hodge and Boeker exited the tournament with a first-round loss to third-seeded Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo from San Diego State, 6-4, 6-4.

It was not easy and it was not pretty, but both Wagner and Boeker needed three sets each to move to Friday's Round of 16. Boeker lost the first set 6-2 and faced break point while trailing 4-1 in the second set to Wake Forest's David Lowenthal before mounting a comeback. When Boeker held serve at 4-2 it marked the first of 11 straight games that Boeker would win. He closed out the second set 6-4 and did not lose a game in the final set to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
