Georgia Posts 6-1 Victory over Auburn

ATHENS-----Top-ranked Georgia posted a 6-1 victory over Auburn Friday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.

Georgia (12-0, 3-0 SEC) captured the doubles point and then won five of the six singles matches to remain undefeated on the year and win its 42nd consecutive home match. The Tigers fall to 7-2, 1-1 in the SEC.

The No. 2 Georgia duo of Mariel Verban and Tina Hojnik defeated Carolina Ramirez and Petra Bercik 8-5 and then the No. 1 tandem of Agata Cioroch and Lori Grey clinched the point with an 8-6 win over Auburn's Katia Illarionova and Carolina Maurer. The No. 3 match came down to a tiebreaker as Auburn had two match points while Georgia had four. Ultimately, the Georgia duo of Alexandra Smith and Anne Nguyen won 9-8, winning the tiebreaker 12-10.
