No. 2 Gym Dogs Defeat No. 21 Kentucky

ATHENS, Ga. - The No. 2 Georgia Gym Dogs won their fourth consecutive meet on Friday night as they defeated the No. 21 Kentucky Gym Cats 197.400-194.450 before 9,034 fans at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens.

Georgia was led by sophomore Cory Fritzinger, who won the all-around with a 39.75, the fourth-highest all-around score in school history.

"We did not know if Cory was going to be able to compete all four events tonight," said Georgia coach Suzanne Yoculan. "She had a great beam routine and I thought she had a perfect vault for the second week in a row."

Georgia opened the meet with a solid first rotation on vault, earning a 49.4, its third-highest vault total of the year. The Gym Dogs were paced by Fritzinger, whose near perfect routine earned a 9.975. Right behind Fritzinger was sophomore Marline Stephens, who earned a score of 9.900. Rounding out the top three scores on vault was junior Cassie Bair, who scored a career-best 9.85. The Gym Cats earned a score of 48.575 on bars, led by sophomore Julie Joys score of 9.800.
