ATHENS, Ga. --- The third-ranked Georgia men's tennis team improves to 6-1 on the year with a 6-1 win over No. 67 Furman Sunday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens. The Bulldogs clinched the doubles point and took five of the six singles match for the win.

"This was a well-fought match," said head coach Manuel Diaz. "I think our team did a great job in the sense they came out ready to fight. If not, this match would have been very, very difficult. Furman was tough, gritty and came out with a lot of enthusiasm. Although they lost the doubles point, they fought hard at all the singles spots."

The Bulldogs got on the board first when Matias Boeker and Brandon Wagner teamed to defeat John Chesworth and James Cameron 8-6 to clinch the doubles point. The pair of Stphan Timu and Lesley Joseph topped Peter Netzler and Andrew Rogers 8-3, while Bulldogs Will Glenn and Ion Vlad lost to Patrick Fillnow and Allen Simmons 7-5.
