FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. --- The 2002 Southeastern Conference Championship continued Friday at the HPER Natatorium at the University of Arkansas. The Georgia women added another individual title and moved into first place after 30 events with 494 points. The men moved ahead of Tennessee to stand in third place with 351 points.

"We are excited to be in the situation we are in," said head coach Jack Bauerle on his team's standings after Friday's competition. "Leaps in our conference are not easy. I am proud of our women. We have had some tough injury situations this year, and to be in this position is nothing short of remarkable.

"I am not sure if we have enough fire power to hold (Florida and Auburn) off, but we swam as best we could. On paper we were expected to be behind today, but our women have put us in a great position. I am not sure if we can hold on tomorrow."
