Boeker Advances In All-American Qualifying

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Georgia men's tennis player Nicolas Boeker won his first-round qualifying match at the Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Boeker topped Jimmy Haney of Texas in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 6-3. Boeker, who is now 3-0 in singles play this fall, will take on Robert Kowalczyk of California in Wednesday's match at 9 a.m. Kowalczyk, who recorded a victory against current Bulldog Jason Varela at the Napa Valley Tennis Challenge earlier this year, defeated 10th-seeded Brian Fisher of LSU in his first match. The winner will move into the main draw of the annual tournament.

The qualifying portion of the tournament continues Wednesday with the main draw, which includes Bulldog Bo Hodge, slated to begin Oct. 10. The finals will take place Oct. 14.
