Two Bulldogs Compete in Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships
Bo Hodge and Nicolas Boeker will be competing in the 2002 Icy Hot/ITA All-American Championships. The event, which includes prequalifying, qualifying and a main draw, will take place at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn., beginning Oct. 4.
Hodge, who is ranked No. 79 in the preseason Omni Hotels/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, received a berth into the main draw which will begin Oct. 10, while Boeker will play in the qualifying portion of the tournament that is slated to start Oct. 8. The two will combine to compete in the main draw of the doubles tournament. The Boeker/Hodge tandem is ranked No. 6 in the preseason doubles rankings.
This will be Hodge's second appearance in the annual event after reaching the quarterfinals as a freshman in 2000 when the tournament was held at Stone Mountain. He was the only freshman to reach the quarterfinals that year, and his finish was tops for a rookie since Stanford's Ryan Wolters reached the quarterfinals in 1995. This marks Boeker's first invitation into the tournament.
