ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia linebacker Boss Bailey and offensive tackle Jon Stinchcomb have been named to the list of 12 semifinalists for the 2002 Rotary Lombardi Award.

Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to Division I down linemen and those defensive players who line up within five yards of the football.

The 12 semifinalists were selected in a vote of more than 400 members of the Rotary Lombardi Selection Committee, which includes all Division I head football coaches, selected sports writers and broadcasters from around the country, and the past winners of the award. The four finalists will be chosen on Nov. 11 and they will attend the Rotary Lombardi Award Dinner on Dec. 11 in Houston, Texas.

Bailey, a 6-foot-3, 229-pound senior from Folkston, Ga., leads the Bulldogs with 75 total tackles (39 solos, 36 assists). He also has recorded five tackles for loss, two sacks, two pass breakups and two quarterback pressures. He had a career-high 14 tackles in Georgia's 31-28 season-opening win over Clemson on Aug. 31 and earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. Bailey also recently was named one of the 11 semifinalists for the Butkus Award, which is presented annually to the nation's best linebacker.
