ATHENS, Ga. -- The University of Georgia soccer team travels to Mississippi this weekend, taking on Ole Miss in Oxford Friday at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and Mississippi State in Starkville Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
With none of the 12 SEC soccer teams mathematically eliminated from qualifying for the eight-team conference tournament, this weekend is important for the Bulldogs' post-season hopes. Georgia is tied for third in the SEC East with a 3-3 conference record. Ole Miss is second in the West with a 3-2-1 SEC mark and MSU is fifth in the West with a 2-3-1 mark. The top eight teams in the conference, regardless of division will play in the SEC Tournament.
"This weekend is critical for the SEC Tournament," Georgia coach Sue Patberg said. "It's critical for getting a good seed and critical for us having an opportunity to play in the NCAA tournament as well. We've got to win out and probably do well in the SEC tournament (to make the NCAA tournament). This weekend is very, very important."
