KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The 18th-ranked Georgia men's golf team shares the lead at the 15th Annual Coca-Cola Tournament of Champions heading into the final round.
Playing two rounds on Monday at Holston Hills Country Club, the Bulldogs carded consecutive scores of 8-under 280 for a 16-under 560 total. That figure was matched by host school Tennessee and is one better than Vanderbilt.
"This was a very good day for us," Georgia coach Chris Haack said. "All of our guys put up solid numbers, and when you can get strong play at No. 4 and No. 5 in the lineup, good things can happen for you. Hopefully, we can have another good day tomorrow."
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Tuesday and will wrap up the fall portion of the Bulldogs' schedule.
Junior Matt McQuillan and sophomore David Denham are tied for sixth place among the individuals at 4-under 140. McQuillan had rounds of 69-71 on Monday, while Denham went 68-72. They are five shots behind tri-leaders David Skinns of Tennessee, Brandt Snedeker of Vanderbilt and Bruce McDonald of Charleston.
Junior Ryan Hybl and freshman Kevin Kisner followed McQuillan and Denham at 3-under 141 and they are tied for ninth place. Hybl posted scores of 72-69 and Kisner recorded 71-70 loops. Freshman Mitch Donald is tied for 28th place at 146 (76-70).
