ATHENS, Ga.- The University of Georgia was well represented at the Phillips 66 National Championships in Austin, Texas, as seven former and current swimmers were named to the World Championship Team, while two others will be participating in the World University Games. Both events will be held later this year.

Olympians and former Lady Bulldogs Kristy Kowal and Courtney Shealy headline the World Championships women's roster, which has five Georgia-related representatives. Kowal won both the 100m and 200m breaststroke at the U.S. Nationals, while Shealy will be a member of the 400m freestyle relay team after finishing fifth in the 100m freestyle. She also finished third in the 100m backstroke.

Three current swimmers will be apart of the World Championship squad, including Stefanie Williams, Maritza Correia and Julie Hardt. Williams, a junior at Georgia, finished third in the 200m and seventh in the 100m freestyle events. Correia, who won the 200m free at the 2000 NCAA Championships, took third in the 100m and ninth in the 200m freestyle. Julie Hardt finished sixth in the 200m freestyle and 12th in the prelims of the 1500m freestyle.
