ATHENS, Ga. - The University of Georgia women's soccer team held two scrimmages, March 24-25, as they defeated Evansville 2-0 on Saturday and fell 2-1 to Furman on Sunday. Both games were held at the soccer stadium at UGA's Women's Athletic Complex. In the scrimmage versus Evansville, junior Catherine Holder scored the first goal on an assist from sophomore transfer Andrea Velasco. Junior Jessica Winton scored the second goal, assisted by sophomore Ashley King. Against Furman, a 2000 NCAA tournament participant, the Bulldogs were down 1-0 when Holder tied the game on a free kick. The score remained tied until Furman scored the game winner with 26 seconds remaining.

The Georgia soccer team is currently participating in spring practice and is also scheduled to scrimmage UNC-Charlotte on Friday, April 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Athens. The Bulldogs are coming off their sixth consecutive winning season as they compiled an 11-9-2 record (4-4-1 SEC) in 2000 and made their first-ever trip to the Southeastern Conference tournament finals.
